Question: Is dressing emo haram?
(Posted by: XxboredomisevilxX on 2010-02-26 20:20:39)
I'm not into all that cutting and suicide stuff, but i just like their style, like how they dress. And lately, i've been starting to wear black more and i've been wanting to get bangs. So, is it ok to dress emo and pleez dont give me all that talk about how they cut themselves and think about suicide cuz not all emos are like that. Thanxxxxx!!!! BTW i doooo wear hijab. >_ > i'm not depressed or anything >. > i only like their style and no i do not wear skinny jeanns cuz they're just too....skinny. I wear slim or average jeans. and I only mean like black clothes, eye makeup and stuff...no depression or cutting or anything. Itz not haram right? |

EVERYONE SHUTUP WITH YOUR ANSWERS IF YOU ARENT GOING TO ANSWER PROPERLY! YOU'RE ALL TELLING THIS GIRL ONLY WHAT YOU THINK BECAUSE YOU DONT LIKE EMOS. Now.. let me answer the question. My, dear.. i am 17 and since i was around 13, i have been dressing like a goth, emo, punk. a mixture of all three. HOWEVER.. i never wear skinny legs or eyeline or anything that will attract too much attention and isnt hijabi. I wear baggy black and white clothing and chucks and stuff and a black hijab. i wear studs on my wrists too. honestly, i dont think its haram as long as you arent wearing any make up and tight revealing clothing. so long as you are wearing baggy things its ok. My brothers used to tell me it was haram. i never really understood why. i dont think they proved it to me. i dont even think they could have. the only thing they could fish out was "you are imitating the kuffar and the way they dress " and then i thought to myself... everything you buy from the shopping centres these days is "imitating the kuffar " plus, islam isnt about national tradition, its about complying with the guidelines. Get what im saying? hope this has helped. But if you really arent satisfied, ask a sheik. |

Umm,so u want to be a wannabe emo?no matter what "type " of emo u r,it's still the "dress in black and other funky things and act like the world hates u and u r depressed over nonsense relationships.. " now im a 13 year old,and at my school the "emo " group is a bunch of weirdos with tacky died hair and clothing...is it really modest? think about it,emo clothing consists of things like black anything, funky hairdos and dyes, those weird nike high tops that are actually MEANT to be huge, skinny jeans (which isn't modest even though hijabis at my mosque wear them, that basically contradicts hijab!) anyway, there is another story behind emo, they're emotional over nonsense like HARAAM relationships, drugs, and whatnot...but now that the style is catching on,they don't mention the origin of it anymore... so would you rather be a teen like ME,happy and cheerful and MODEST? or a weird emo person that thinks the world is out to get them? |
