I assume you mean project. I would consult wikipedia, but here's a brief history. emo as we know it todayis not what it originally meant. Originally it was "emocore " or emotional hardcore, as in hardcore punk with lyrics that sounded like they came from a diary, or (as with bands like Rites of Spring) with more emotional stage performances sometimes involving vocalists going so far as to crying and such. Of course, as with alot of punk and its subgenres, idiots take it and misapply it and today it has come to define bands such as Dashboard (even though Chris is more in line with singer-songwriters than emo) and MCR. In fact most "emo " bands are nowhere close to hardcore punk, which in the 80s was part of the very definition. Go figure... |
